This will be Lucas Auer's first start in the 24-hour classic. The car will enter the stage as the 'Beast of the Green Hell'. All participants in the SP9 class are eligible to score points for the overall IGTC standings at the 24-hour race at the Nürburgring.
The race as well counts towards the manufacturers' championship of the Nürburgring Endurance Series (NLS).

„After 2013 and the quadruple victory in 2016, we are definitely aiming for overall victory again. We've now finished on the podium three times in a row and it's time to return to the top step. The 24-hour race at the Nürburgring is of a very special significance. The history and the fans give this race a unique atmosphere and our brand of course has a strong link to this iconic venue. Against the backdrop of our anniversary celebrating 130 Years of Motorsport, this year's event is a special one for Mercedes-AMG. We want to live up to our successful history here with a victory.”
Christoph Sagemüller, Head of Mercedes-AMG Motorsport
„As every year, we are very much looking forward to the 24-hour race. The challenges of the Nürburgring Nordschleife are unique in the world and it is always something very special to take part in this fascinating race. Despite the limited preparation time, we are optimistic that we can compete for overall victory this weekend. Our teams and drivers have the necessary experience and know exactly what is important on the Nordschleife. There are many crucial factors here, such as the typical Eifel weather. We not only have to be fast, but above all make the right decisions in order to finish at the top.”
