Virtual Championship

Mercedes-AMG Motorsport evolves sim racing with the Virtual Championship.

  • First virtual one-make series from Mercedes-AMG features an innovative concept
  • Sim racers compete in the Mercedes-AMG GT3 in different racing simulations
  • Season Zero starts with six race days between September and November

130 Years of Motorsport under the sign of the three-pointed star also lead the way into the future at Mercedes-AMG Motorsport. In the anniversary year, the performance and sports car brand is setting new standards with the Mercedes-AMG Motorsport Virtual Championship. In co-operation with the interactive platform Mercedes-AMG Private Lounge, the first virtual one-make cup brings together sim racers worldwide in three of the most renowned racing simulations. With Assetto Corsa Competizione and iRacing for the PC and Gran Turismo 7 for the games console, the drivers compete across platforms in the Mercedes-AMG GT3. A new concept, fair competition and the community spirit are at the core of Season Zero.

The inaugural season of the Mercedes-AMG Motorsport Virtual Championship will feature two divisions per title. The respective grids will be determined via a hot-lap competition. After three race days, there will be an additional element of excitement. The top three in their respective divisions will be promoted to the next higher division for the second half of the season, while the bottom three are relegated.

All divisions are eligible to score points for the Mercedes-AMG Motorsport Virtual Championship. This means that all participants, regardless of the respective racing simulation, have an equal chance of overall victory and unique rewards. The top 3 in the Virtual Championship will receive exciting "Money Can't Buy Prizes" from the world of Mercedes-AMG Motorsport - from Formula 1® to GT racing and virtual motorsport. The winner will receive an exclusive driving experience in a real racing car from Affalterbach.

The perfect mix of fun and entertainment is at the centre of the Mercedes-AMG Motorsport Virtual Championship. The Season Zero event format comprises six race days between September and November, on each of which two races are held. The first contest is a classic competition similar to real-life racing consisting of practice, qualifying and a race. In the second race, challenges and handicaps will be implemented to provide even more action as well as interaction. The aim is to develop the competition together with the community and to shape the future of the Mercedes-AMG Motorsport Virtual Championship. The only requirement for participation is the respective hardware and software.

"We are very much looking forward to this new virtual chapter in the history of Mercedes-AMG Motorsport. For us as a brand, Esports is a valuable platform for making the fascination of our racing cars accessible to all motorsport enthusiasts worldwide. With the Mercedes-AMG Motorsport Virtual Championship, we are strengthening this commitment while relying on a new, interactive and cross-platform concept."
