The new Mercedes-AMG GT3 Edition 130Y Motorsport

RACING LEGEND REMASTERED

130 years of Mercedes-Benz Motorsport. To mark this anniversary, we are presenting the new Mercedes-AMG GT3 Edition 130Y Motorsport, which unites two iconic eras of motorsport. The technologically unique, limited collector's item is the most powerful GT3 evolution of all time from Affalterbach.

Inspired by glory. Built for speed.

HIGHLIGHTS

The Mercedes-AMG GT3 Edition 130Y Motorsport is a milestone in the unprecedented success story that started back in 1952 with the iconic Mercedes-Benz 300 SL racing sports car. As the brand’s first closed-top racing car, the W 194 marked the start of an era. Built by hand in Affalterbach and limited to 13 units, the special model matches the aesthetics and numerous other attributes of its role model to perfection.

The most powerful Mercedes-AMG GT3 evolution of all time combines numerous innovative contemporary motorsport technologies in one vehicle, effortlessly exceeding the limits of homologation. In the hunt for thousandths of a second, the edition model benefits from weight-optimised components made of carbon and magnesium. Paired with state-of-the-art aerodynamics, two years of development work have resulted in the lightest and highest performing GT3 vehicle by Mercedes-AMG.

Unrestricted power.

PERFORMANCE

The Mercedes-AMG GT3 Edition 130Y Motorsport pushes the boundaries of performance in the GT sector. The optimised AMG 6.3-litre V8 naturally aspirated engine is the last of its kind in a GT3 racing car from Affalterbach and unleashes its maximum power of 680 hp (500 kW) without an air restrictor and with a special exhaust system.

The lightweight construction concept with weight-optimised carbon components and magnesium wheels makes this special model the lightest Mercedes-AMG GT3 evolution of all time. With an unladen weight of 1,275 kilograms, the Mercedes-AMG GT3 Edition 130Y Motorsport achieves a phenomenal power-to-weight ratio of less than 2 kg/hp.

In combination with perfected aerodynamics, the Mercedes-AMG GT3 Edition 130Y Motorsport achieves outstanding driving performance. The louvres, splitter, side skirts, underbody and rear diffuser have been designed to maximise downforce. The Drag Reduction System (DRS), inspired by Formula 1® and Class 1 DTM, is a new and central feature. When the sophisticated DRS technology is activated, the drag of the rear wing is reduced, enabling top speeds of over 315 km/h. To maintain the aero balance, active elements on the front floor are extended at the same time. The wider rear wing concept increases the downforce on the rear axle and thus ensures even more performance and cornering stability. The high-performance carbon fibre brake system, also inspired by Formula 1®, generates maximum deceleration.

Heritage. Reinterpreted.

EXTERIOR

The tight connection of tradition and modernity defines the appearance of the Mercedes-AMG GT3 Edition 130Y Motorsport. Classic styling elements of the pioneering Mercedes-Benz 300 SL racing sports car of the W 194 model range are presented in a contemporary design in this model, transporting the achievements of our glorious history into the present.

The multi-coloured exterior paintwork is dominated by a high-quality silver tone and makes reference to the famous Silver Arrows. The wings with blue accents are reminiscent of the victory in the 1952 Carrera Panamericana. The colourful frame of the striking radiator grille harks back to the car’s victory in the Le Mans 24 Hours in the same year. The contrast is provided by the weight-optimised 18" AMG magnesium wheels in a special edition design and the car’s characteristic carbon elements, stylishly accentuated by a matt clear coat finish.

Unique symbiosis. Tradition and high tech.

INTERIOR

Featuring many details, the interior of the new Mercedes-AMG GT3 Edition 130Y Motorsport combines advanced motorsport technologies with the classic design elements of the racing cars with the three-pointed star from the 1950s.

The seat cover with the original, fireproof upholstery fabric specification of the Mercedes-Benz 300 SL in a striking blue check pattern is reminiscent of the pioneering days of motorsport, as are the brown leather headrests and door loops. The specially developed steering wheel with anodised buttons and walnut wood handles characterises the striking appearance of the interior. As with all our special models, an edition-specific badge with the vehicle designation is attached to the centre console.

The Bosch DDU 10 with enlarged display and high-resolution graphics provides comprehensive information on all relevant data while excellent readability is guaranteed as well. The Mercedes-AMG GT3 Edition 130Y Motorsport thus combines the user-friendliness that is a matter of course for our racing cars with optimum ergonomics throughout the cockpit.

Our legacy. Your thrill.

RECORD BREAKER

The stopwatch is witness to the winning DNA of the Mercedes-AMG GT3 Edition 130Y Motorsport. The race against time has always been the yardstick for the performance of a racing car. On 17 February 2024, Mercedes-AMG Performance Driver Jules Gounon set a new track record for GT cars on the legendary Mount Panorama Circuit in Bathurst, Australia. The three-time winner of the prestigious Bathurst 12 Hour completed his lap of the 6.213-kilometre-long circuit with a prototype of the edition model at an average speed of 191.82 km/h in 1m 56.605s.
