Brand-internal championship

Mercedes-AMG Customer Racing Championship

The Mercedes-AMG Customer Racing Championship is a brand-internal customer sports trophy organised by Mercedes-AMG GmbH to honour teams and drivers for their extraordinary commitment in motorsport.

Since 2014, participants have been collecting points by means of their race participations with the SLS AMG GT3, Mercedes-AMG GT3 or Mercedes-AMG GT4 throughout the season and they are honoured at the end of the season. Amateur drivers separated from the professionals: this makes the Mercedes-AMG Motorsport Customer Racing Championship particularly interesting for ambitious privateer drivers. Moreover, there are separate categories for the best GT3 and GT2/GT4 teams. To ensure a maximum chance equality, points are attributed with weighing factors, taking into account, among others, the type and distance of the races.

During the 2022/2023 competition period, over 400 drivers and 100 teams were represented in the Mercedes-AMG Customer Racing Championship.

2023/2024 CHAMPIONSHIP

Classification

For the classification of the 2023/2024 Mercedes-AMG Customer Racing Championship, all drivers and teams participating in national and international motor races and/or race series with Mercedes-AMG customer sports cars are eligible. The new competition period started on 25th October 2023, the end will be announced at a later stage.

The Mercedes-AMG Customer Racing Championship has been divided into eleven categories: PRO-DRIVER, DRIVER, TEAM GT3, TEAM GT2, TEAM GT4, PRO-DRIVER GT3, DRIVER GT3, PRO-DRIVER GT2, DRIVER GT2, PRO-DRIVER GT4 and DRIVER GT4. The three respectively five best-placed participants in each classification receive attractive non-cash prizes according to their achievements.

Points' allocation

There are seperate classifications for GT3, GT2 and GT4 cars, so their points are being allocated in different classes (individual ranking).

Moreover, there is a general ranking for each of the classes in which the points scored are integrated as well. Here, the points for GT3, GT2 and GT4 cars are also scored separately.

In every point-scoring race, points are attributed for 1st to 10th place according to the familiar scheme 25-18-15-12-10-8-6-4-2-1, multilplied by a pre-determined factor depending on the type and duration of the race.

Drivers

Driver categorisation

The Mercedes-AMG Customer Racing Championship differentiates between PRO DRIVER and DRIVER. Categorisation of the participants is done by Mercedes-AMG Motorsport.

In the process, all drivers listed as Platinum, Gold or Silver to FIA standards are categorized as PRO DRIVER. Accordingly, drivers with FIA Bronze standard are categorized as DRIVER.

Participation

Eligible to participate are all drivers of full age who have achieved a result from a race participation in the 2023/2024 season with an SLS AMG GT3, a Mercedes-AMG GT3, a Mercedes-AMG GT2 or a Mercedes-AMG GT4. These are automatically entered for the Mercedes-AMG Customer Racing Championship.

Prizes

In the Mercedes-AMG Customer Racing Championships, extraordinary achievements are rewarded. Aditionally, all winners receive a “Mercedes-AMG Customer Racing Championship” trophy.

The prizes for the new competition period, together with the new regulations, will be published on the Customer Service Portal (CSP) within the next weeks.

The various laureates will be announced at the end of the 2024 season during the traditional end-of-season celebration. This will also include an awards ceremony with a symbolic handover of the prizes. The high-quality prizes will be delivered to the laureates after the event.

Teams

Next to the drivers, our five most successful GT3, GT2 and GT4 teams are rewarded with prize money. Moreover, each of the honoured teams receives a high-quality “Mercedes-AMG Customer Racing Championship” trophy.

On top of that, the five best-placed teams in both categories will be presented with the sustainability prize. Since the 2021/2022 competition period, Mercedes-AMG has compensated all the kilometres completed by the teams that can therefore show a carbon-neutral footprint.
