2010

Summary

The Customer Racing Programme has its roots in the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG GT3. As a homage to the legendary 300 SL gull-wing door car, the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG is the first vehicle developed completely in house. Mercedes-AMG enters the new segment with the innovative capacity that is typical for the company and, in cooperation with HWA AG, develops a GT3 version of the gull-wing door vehicle within six months.

2010

Highlights

The SLS AMG GT3 makes its debut on 25 September as part of the VLN Langstreckenmeisterschaft Nürburgring. Piloted by Thomas Jäger and Christopher Haase, Team BLACK FALCON secures the historical first victory in its second race at the challenging Nordschleife.

2011

Summary

The SLS AMG GT3 becomes the most successful newcomer of the year in its first full season. 40 vehicles are sold to teams all over the world, which claim over 20 victories across four continents.

Highlights

The SLS AMG GT3 records its first successes in its debut year: the team title at the FIA GT3 European Championship (HEICO Motorsport), a podium in the first 24-hour race for a Mercedes-AMG Customer Racing vehicle (Team BLACK FALCON ) in Dubai as well as two victories and eleven podium finishes during its first season in the ADAC GT Masters.

2012

Summary

Continuous enhancement of the SLS AMG GT3 and the Customer Racing programme. In addition to spectacular design, exceptional driveability and an innovative safety concept, reliable endurance performance is a key success factor of the car.

2012

Highlights

The SLS AMG GT3 claims its first victory in the 24H Dubai (Team BLACK FALCON) as well as victory in the drivers’ and teams’ standings in the FIA GT1 World Championship (ALL-INKL.COM). In the hard-fought ADAC GT Masters, the SLS AMG GT3 from the kfzteile24 MS Racing team comes out on top again in the final race at the Hockenheimring and secures the drivers’ and teams’ championship together with Sebastian Asch and Maximilian Götz.

2013

Summary

Customer teams achieve the ‘Grand Slam’: victories in all the major GT3 endurance racing classics: the Dubai 24-hour race, the Bathurst 12-hour race, the 24-hour race at the Nürburgring and the 24-hour race at Spa-Francorchamps.

Highlights

The Mercedes-AMG Customer Racing Teams secure four championship titles in international race series such as the Blancpain Endurance Series drivers’ title (Maximilian Buhk) as well as the drivers’ and teams’ titles in the following race series: FIA GT Series (Team HTP Gravity Charouz with its drivers Sergei Afanasiev, Andreas Simonsen, Petr Charouz, Jan Stovicek), Super Taikyu Series (Team PETRONAS Syntium with its drivers Melvin Moh and Dominic Ang) and Race Trophy Austria (Team Premium Motorsport Poland with its driver Piotr Kraxczyk).

2014

Summary

Mercedes-AMG develops the CLA 45 AMG Racing Series (a small production run of 29 cars) that has been racing in its dedicated one-make series, the CLA AMG Cup, within the Brazilian Mercedes-Benz Challenge since 2014.

2014

Highlights

Successful year in the Blancpain Sprint Series: Maximilian Götz wins the drivers’ title with team-mate Maximilian Buhk becoming runner-up. The HTP Motorsport team finishes runner-up in the teams’ standings with the German duo driving the SLS AMG GT3.

2015

Summary

At the Geneva Motor Show, Mercedes-AMG unveils a worthy successor for the SLS AMG GT3: the Mercedes-AMG GT3. In the same year, the Mercedes-AMG Customer Racing Championship is launched as a brand-internal global competition for all teams and drivers with race cars from Affalterbach. 

2015

Highlights

Driving a SLS AMG GT3, Maro Engel claims victory in both qualifying and the main race in the very first FIA GT World Cup at Macau. Mercedes-AMG wins the constructors’ title in the race.

2016

Summary

With outstanding achievements, private customer teams can put themselves in a position to be considered for the Performance Team status with extended works support. Beyond the technical support, these teams are also enhanced by engineers and motorsport specialists from Mercedes-AMG Customer Racing.  

2016

Highlights

True sensation in its first full season: in the Nürburgring 24-hour race, teams driving a Mercedes-AMG GT3 take the first four places and sixth place. Adam Christodoulou, Maro Engel, Manuel Metzger and Bernd Schneider from Mercedes-AMG Team BLACK FALCON secure victory. The historic quadruple victory still represents the biggest single success in the history of Mercedes-AMG Customer Racing and the endurance classic.

2017

Summary

Boosted by the achievements and the ever-increasing popularity of GT racing, Mercedes-AMG Customer Racing adds another vehicle category to its portfolio and presents the production-based Mercedes-AMG GT4 during the 24-hour race at Spa-Francorchamps. Technology and logistics centres are established to ensure more rapid spare parts supply in Asia, America and Australia.

2017

Highlights

Edoardo Mortara drives the Mercedes-AMG GT3 to victory in the FIA GT World Cup at Macau. In the endurance cup of the North IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship, Riley Motorsports crowns its maiden season with the Mercedes-AMG GT3 by winning the championship titles for manufacturers, drivers and teams.

2018

Summary

Driving the Mercedes-AMG GT3 and Mercedes-AMG GT4, the Customer Racing Teams claim a total of 373 podium finishes and 141 victories in 394 races. More than 40 championship titles round off the season.

Highlights

In the Intercontinental GT Challenge, Tristan Vautier and Kenny Habul claim the drivers’ titles in the Overall and Bronze classes. The AKKA ASP team takes the overall victory in the Blancpain GT Series. Mercedes-AMG celebrates two podium successes in the FIA GT World Cup with the Mercedes-AMG GT3: Maro Engel takes second place, followed by Edoardo Mortara in third position. In the first full season of the Mercedes-AMG GT4, Customer Racing Teams secure two class victories in the Nürburgring 24-hour race.

2019

Summary

At the occasion of the 24-hour race at the Nürburgring, a further developed version of the Mercedes-AMG GT3 is presented. It features revised looks and numerous technical optimisations.

2019

Highlights

Nico Bastian achieves a triple title win in the Silver Cup of the Blancpain GT Series (Endurance, Sprint, overall). AKKA ASP pulls off the same feat in the Silver Cup teams’ standings while the French team also seals the Blancpain GT World Challenge Europe crown. In the Blancpain GT World Challenge Asia, Roelof Bruins secures the drivers’ title. Thanks to the achievements in the Blancpain GT World Challenge America, Mercedes-AMG wins the manufacturers’ title in the inaugural global Blancpain GT World Challenge. The season finale is a successful one, too: with Mercedes-AMG Team GruppeM Racing, Raffaele Marciello secures the fourth victory for Mercedes-AMG Motorsport in the FIA GT World Cup at Macau.

2020

In 2020, Mercedes-AMG Customer Racing is celebrating its tenth anniversary. At the beginning of the anniversary year, the new Mercedes-AMG GT3 made its debut in the Dubai 24-hour race and secured a podium finish in the 12-hour race at Bathurst in Australia, the Intercontinental GT Challenge season opener. Moreover, Mercedes-AMG presented the new Mercedes-AMG GT4 as a further developed version of its worldwide successful model.
